Plain and simple.

This so much all over. God, I am so tired of the way politicians here in the U.S. defend capitalism as though its this wonderful system that makes people free and equal, while saying “socialism” like it’s a curse word, as though the idea that someone is entitled to hold onto the profit they made by working other people nearly to death is something to be defended.
The truth about this is that you can work as hard as you want in the U.S. and never get ahead. You can work three jobs and be on time every day and be responsible and every other good moral admirable thing and pay your damn taxes and you can spend your entire life fighting because hard work doesn’t cut it. This isn’t a meritocracy, and you really can be too poor to get educated, too poor to be healthy, too poor to live. And if after all that striving you ask that maybe, just maybe, the people at the top contribute as much in money as you have in blood, sweat, and tears, people think you’re talking about killing babies. *rolls eyes*
